HOW LONG: Each session is one and a half hours in length.

HOW MUCH: $125.00

WHAT CAN I EXPECT: Your session can be broken down into three parts:

1. Information taking and evaluation: At the beginning of you first session a detailed personal and medical history will be taken. For obvious reasons things such as old injuries, broken bones and surgeries can have a major impact on your structure and issues today. I want to get as clear a picture as possible. This will be followed by information on your current complaints; all of them even though they may not seem to be related at this time. The connections often become obvious later. After this is the evaluation. I check your current bodily alignment to see how it corresponds to what you have described. At this point you will usually be in your underwear, two piece bathing suit, running shorts or the like. The object here is for you to feel comfortable while allowing me to see what’s going on.

2. The bodywork. On the table you will receive hands on bodywork appropriate to what you have demonstrated as your need. We could be doing series work as part of the eleven session series, work related to a special problem that needs to be dealt with or follow up sessions after the series.

3. Next comes movement work designed to carry the table work forward and begin to loosen the areas that are to be worked next. Rather than a series of exercises I prefer to focus on the things that I know that you will do every day: sitting, walking and standing. If we can bring stretching and release in these aspects of your life it will carry you much further than a exercise sequence that you may not be able to do every day.

Each of these aspects will be present in your session in varying amounts. The mix is determined by your needs at any given time.

DOES IT HURT: I like to remind people how it feels when you stretch. Sometimes it hurts but it “hurts good” . That kind of pain is OK but when we get to “OWCH” that’s STOP. I hear it right away and there is always an alternate way to work. Another way to look at it is on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being no pain and 10 being where you wished you had said STOP at 9.

DO I HAVE TO DO THE SERIES: No, each person has their own unique needs and we need to find out what is right for you. It may be two or three sessions or it might be the series. I have found that once we do the first appointment it’s usually pretty clear to both of us what you’re going to need.

HOW DO I GET STARTED: Call me at 250 382-9931 or e-mail me at info@northwesthellerwork.com we can set up a first appointment and go from there.

TO GET THE BEST----WORK WITH THE BEST

THE SERIES: From the genius of Ida Rolf came the 10 Sessions, 3 Segment, Progressive series. Then Joseph Heller added movement and thematic dialogue work which gives us the 11 session Hellerwork Series as we know it today.
In the first segment we address the extrinsic or action muscles. By releasing the holding patterns in this group we free up movement and allow the work to go deeper.
In the second segment we move down to the postural or intrinsic system which gives rise to that deeper release sometimes felt in Yoga or Tai Chi. In both of these first two segments the holding patterns that have been built into the body by accidents, repetitive strains, or the general insults of life are cleared from the myo-facial system making way for the integrative sessions that occur in the third segment thus freeing you to come back to life with a new found fluidity: less pain, more ease.
