SEXUAL CONDUCT POLICY Download this document as PDF. INTRODUCTION This Sexual Conduct Policy supersedes and nullifies any prior agreements, written or verbal, made between Hellerwork International and any individual and/or Practitioner. It may be amended as necessary with a majority vote of the HWI Board of Directors. This policy applies to Hellerwork Practitioners, Faculty, Training staff, and any other representatives of HWI, while acting in their professional capacities (hereinafter referred to as “representatives of HWI”). The intent of this policy is to uphold the safety and integrity of HELLERWORK in sessions, courses, continuing education workshops (CEWs), and Trainings, and to protect any representative of HWI from allegations of unethical conduct. Due to the intimate nature of our work, it is imperative that we establish clear guidelines around sexual behavior. The representative of HWI, because of their position of relative rank or power, shall be exemplary in their conduct, both during and after the professional relationship. Representatives of HWI, while acting in their professional capacity, shall not solicit or engage in sexual behavior, even if a student or Client initiates such behaviour . This policy does not apply to marriage partners or persons who are already in relationship with a partner that has included such interactions prior to their participation in the situations or settings listed below. THIS POLICY APPLIES TO, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING RELATIONSHIPS: a) Hellerwork Practitioners and their Clients THIS POLICY APPLIES TO BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS: a) Any session done by a Hellerwork Practitioner PROCEDURE FOR MEDIATION AND RESOLUTION Any and all alleged claims should be made in writing to the Chair of the Regional Ethics Committee, in the region in which the complaint originates. If there is no regional committee the complaint shall be forwarded to the Chair of the Ethics Committee for HWI. CONSEQUENCES Proven failure to comply with the Code of Ethics or Sexual Conduct Policy shall result in disciplinary sanctions being taken against the Practitioner, unless the parties involved are able to create a mutually acceptable Action Plan which brings resolution to the matter. WHEN THE PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP ENDS If, once the professional relationship is complete, there is a desire or intent to pursue a sexual relationship, HWI highly recommends a minimum waiting period of six months and supervision with a qualified therapist. |
