Michael McFarland is a dedicated practitioner of bodywork since his initial training in Hellerwork 25 years ago. He is a gifted teacher with a warm and engaging style. He serves as an associate trainer on the Hellerwork faculty where my teaching specializes in bodywork/manual therapy technique, palpatory and functional anatomy, and movement on and off the table. His classes are very much hands on with demos and trades. They are also practical – encouraging students to incorporate what they learn into their practice. His primary interests and passions tend to be related to the body - how it functions and moves, its flexibility and strength, how it heals and regenerates, and how to live in a body as an expression of art. His current regular practices are one-on-one Pilates instruction, yoga, and Gabrielle Roth’s 5 rhythm classes. He also participate in an ongoing Men’s group based on David Deida’s work. These practices have opened him to more energy, to a more profound sense of presence, and a deeper purpose.
Regina Buckwalter was trained by Joseph Heller in 1979. During the past 27 years, while creating a private practice, she was also exploring movement as a healing art. She has studied primarily with Emily Conrad D'Aud, Judith Aston, and Anna Halprin. In 1989, after studying intensively with Gabrielle Roth, Regina was one of the first students to be certified as a teacher of the Five Rhythms. In addition, she has a background in Bodynamics (how developmental trauma affects structure), Hakomi, Treatment of Trauma, and Psycho-Biomechanics (how physical movement patterns interface with psychological organization). Regina's work centers on healing and integrating the body, mind, and spirit and emotions through movement, creative self-expression, and awareness. In her teaching, she mindfully creates a safe space that allows each student to express and claim his or her authentic self. Weaving her vast background of movement and psychology with her unique perspective of spirituality, sensuality, and healing, Regina is an inspiration to all practitioners of structural integration. Regina has a private practice in the Oakland hills of California, where she lives with her husband and her son.
